An update from the hospital,
Its been six days since Kristen started her second course of antibiotics this hospital stay. She was starting to feel so much better. I was getting ready to update everyone on this positive turn, when we hit a bump in the road. Unfortunately, Kristen has now developed Clostridium difficile or (C. Diff). C. Diff is not fun. Overall, you just feel awful. Kristen is now spending her time trying to sleep the worst of it away. Kristen has now been taken off of the antibiotics for her lung infection. The antibiotics for her lungs have made it possible for her to get this infection. Antibiotics can create an environment inside you that make you suseptable to get C.Diff. Conversely C. Diff treatment requires a different course of antibiotics. She is getting IV fluids to combat the dehydration that can be associated with this infection. So as of now Kristen will need to be on these new meds for at the least two weeks. This infection can be really hard to get rid of. Last time Kristen got it, it took three months to go away. We are really hoping that this can be treated and eliminated as quickly as possible, however only time will truly tell. So, what does this all mean. Once again, we are unsure of when she will get to leave the hospital. Also, C. Diff. is contagious. Spreading it is easily avoidable through proper hand washing. You must use soap and water, sanitizer is not sufficient. Trust me on this, you do not want C. Diff.. This means that Hattie will not be visiting her mom at the hospital anytime soon. As of right now, we are biding our time and hoping for the best. Much love to all of you, Eric
